The first Hospital building was started in 1952 near the Buxar railway station. It was shifted to the current location due to the local population being against treating TB and Leprosy patients in the heart of the town. ​

The Maharaja of Buxar then allocated the current land and the first OPD was started on December 1958.​

Various reconstructive surgeries for Leprosy patients, complex abdominal operations and rejoining of amputated limbs, fingers and toes was also started with state-of-the-art facilities for patients at a very affordable price.​
