Communication strategy development and designing of IEC for National Blood Transfusion Services, India
Communication is at the core of a successful and sustainable voluntary blood donor program. It transcends all areas, not only donor information and education, including advocacy and relationships with stakeholders.
IEC and Advocacy plays a crucial role in securing ongoing commitment and support from government, partners and other stakeholders for establishing or strengthening a blood donor program based on 100% voluntary blood donation. Educating the donor/people and creating an enabling environment is paramount to achieving 100% voluntary blood donation. Without correct information, most people will simply remain unaware of the blood transfusion service and the need for blood donation. Without education and motivational activities, few will be sufficiently self-motivated to find out how they can donate their blood.
In this regard, Christian Medical Association of India, which works with the Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) division of NACO, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, under the aegis of National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC), invites expression of interest from agencies for undertaking the following:
- Devise scenario specific communication Strategies for Blood Transfusion Services
- Review of existing communication materials, like
i. Mass media
ii. Electronic media
iii.Advertisement in newspaper and magazine etc.
iv. Print media
v. Digital display materials
vi. Short Films and Advocacy with civil society and corporates etc
- Designing of a package of essential materials for use at National, State, Facility and Community level
- Developing prototypes
- Standardization of content and messages.
